David Wareing & Mary Winter

Wareing

David Wareing was born in about 1748 in Preston Lancashire.  Records tell us that his father was also named David and was born in about 1720, however, it has proven more difficult to identify who his mother was.

Mary Winter was born in approximately 1760.  They married on 10 September 1776 at St George the Martyr (Anglican) Church, Queen Square, Holborn, in the London Borough of Camden, and they are my great great great great great grandparents.

A witness to their marriage is identified as Ann Winter and this could either be Mary’s mother or an older sister.

In the following year the first of their eight children is born – Lydia (1777-1816) followed by my great great great great grandfather George (1780-1844), Mary (1782-1788), Joan (1784-1788), John (1785-1788), James (1787-1852), William (1791-1865) and Teresa (1794-1808). Only four of them survived to adulthood.

By the time the last of the family were born they lived at St Giles in the Field in the London Borough of Camden, and David was working as a tailor.

David Wareing died on 18 October 1833, and Mary passed away 11 years later in 1844, in Birmingham, Warwickshire.
